SUMMARY:
The Payroll Supervisor / Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the payroll function including the timely, accurate and effective processing of payroll disbursements for NN, Inc. and subsidiaries in the U.S.  The Payroll Supervisor / Manager reports directly to the Leader of Corporate Shared Services.  Position title will be commensurate with level of experience.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Build, develop and monitor the payroll team ensuring compliance, service excellence and talent management.
  • Establish department and individual goals/objectives and direct, and actively participate as necessary, staff in achievement of responsibilities and objectives. Provide ongoing communication, training and strong leadership to the payroll team including assessment of performance to productivity goals.
  • Represent the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to NN’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.  Ability to recognize and respond to situations that require complete confidentiality
  • Oversee all aspects of payroll including third party provider services (e.g. ADP, Fidelity) benefits, insurance, reporting (multi-state, W-2’s, 941’s, union, etc.), researching issues, and account reconciliations
  • Serve as subject matter expert on all payroll policies and procedures, including but not limited to, extra on/off cycle payrolls, year-end processing, retro calculations, etc.
  • Working closely with the Leader of Corporate Shared Services, develop and administer the annual budget for the payroll function, including determining and recommending staffing requirements
  • Coordinate/consult with various business units regarding all payroll-related matters. Assist division personnel in resolving escalated payroll problems and questions
  • Administer periodic audits and review of process, systems and output to ensure payroll is achieving accurate intended results and all security restrictions are functioning
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Finance, and Information Technology on all payroll-related issues, including ensuring the company’s pay practices and procedures follow all federal and state employment/wage and tax laws
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned, including assisting on special projects and performing various business and financial analysis as needed
  • Foster continuous improvement in terms of efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or other related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with payroll/HRIS systems; union experience a plus
  • Minimum of 2 years’ management or supervisory experience
  • In-depth understanding of multi-state payroll regulations including current knowledge of federal, state and local labor laws, employee benefit plans and payroll taxes
 
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact and work effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Strong technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and various accounting systems/reporting packages, with HRIS system knowledge a plus
  • Ability to maintain confidential information in a discreet manner
  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Must be willing and able to travel to NN sites as necessary
 
Certification/Training:
  • Certified Payroll Professional certification preferred
  • ADP credential training a plus
