The Life Sciences Integration and Transformation Special Projects Manager is responsible for driving breakthrough improvement at plant sites within the NN Life Sciences Group.  Projects may include plant relocations, significant capacity increases, plant financial performance improvement, and turnarounds. Anticipated travel is estimated at 65% of the time, domestically and internationally.  At times, the travel may be extended to full time domestic or foreign service assignments. The Life Sciences I&T Special Projects Manager reports directly to the SVP, Integration & Transformation Life Sciences.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for monitoring weekly and monthly plant performance and prioritizing activities based on needs.
  • Can create and execute tactical plans for plant level improvement in a range of management disciplines including, organization, management and supervision, scheduling and lean improvements, and engineering technical problem solving.
  • Responsible for delivering fast response to plant issues including safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Coordinates other resources inside and outside of the Group to assist in problem solving.
  • Assemble and monitor an effective continuous improvement project list to ensure delivery on commitments
  • Ensure improvement targets are achieved, evaluate gaps and identify solutions
  • Responsible for creating effective short term solutions for key Plant metrics for use in problem solving and project prioritization.
  • Must have the capability to understand and manage a plant P&L.
  • Responsible for recruitment of permanent management team members in order to turn over responsibility for continuing operations back to the plant.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience leading others in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5 years of leadership/managerial experience including P&L management
  • Familiar with Kaizen/Six Sigma/Lean/TPM with the ability to apply these concepts in production
  • Proven leadership experience with significant and verifiable results including significant plant improvement or turnarounds.
  • Experience in team development - problem solving, conflict resolution, building cooperative relationships, and effective communications
  • Effective coaching and mentoring skills
  • Ability to travel up to 65%, domestically and internationally
  • Ability and desire to accept 6 – 12 month assignments to manage plant sites including foreign sites.

  • Proficient in standard Microsoft Office applications (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
