The Group VP of IT, Life Sciences is responsible for assuring the Life Sciences IT Division are satisfying the needs of the division and individual site levels.  The Group VP of IT, Life Sciences  individual’s principal goals are to develop and manage the staff, establish IT procedures, and external resources necessary to ensure that the needs of the individual sites are consistently being met.  The Group VP of IT, Life Sciences will also drive the development of IT procedures and/or work instructions that assure compliance to the global IT policies and the requirements of the Sarbanes–Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX).
  • Manage, directly or indirectly, all site analysts globally to ensure adequate production support and business continuity
             a. Set annual goals and conduct regular performance reviews
             b. Manage individual performance, as necessary
             c. Provide input to annual merit increases. 
             d. Monitor help desk tickets for assigned sites to ensure service levels and response times
             e. NOTE – some site analysts may also report to a local manager. In this case, the Sr. Manager, IT Operational Support
                 will coordinate goal setting and reviews with this other manager.
  • Ensure site compliance with IT policies and processes
           a. Drive the development, dissemination, and deployment of both global and local procedures required for site compliance to 
               comply with published IT policies
           b. Ensure site compliance with the published SOX calendar
  • Maintain regular communications with site operational leaders to assess their view of IT performance and determine improvement plans
  • Evaluate and recommend the selection of suppliers and partners of local support services for all global sites
  • Monitor progress of all site-based IT projects at the sites for which they are responsible
           a. If appropriate, participate as a member of project steering committees for these projects
  • Work with the other IT SLT members to assess risks throughout the organization and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Monitor/assess the performance of both internal and external support personnel working on the administration, deployment, and training of IT-related systems
  • Work closely with other IT SLT members to develop long-term plans for deployments and system improvements
           a. Provide local support resources for both application and infrastructure projects
  • Assist in pre-acquisition due diligence evaluations with respect to IT systems
           a. Actively manage the integration of acquisitions into the NN organization in a timely manner
  • Help local site analysts prepare and manage the IT capital and operating budgets for the assigned sites
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related field
                o Extraordinary practical experience may be a substitute for the educational requirement
• Minimum of ten years’ practical experience managing projects and supporting operations
• Minimum of five years as a manager of people in a global environment
• Experience in facilitating change, including collaboration with senior-level stakeholders
• Solid understanding of systems implementation and software development life cycle
• Demonstrated project management and leadership skills
• Master’s degree in business, IT, or a related field
• Project Management Professional Certification (PMP), PgMP, or PfMP certification

• Effective problem-solving, analytical, and time management skills
• Ability to lead a team of employees or work individually
• Awareness and sensitivity to regional cultural differences

• IT is a constantly evolving field, continuing education in the form of courses, seminars, tradeshows, and self-education is required
