SUMMARY:
The Manager, IT Infrastructure, is responsible for determining standards and deploying, configuring, and managing all networking, server, communications, and security hardware and services across all NN locations.   Responsibilities also include managing and deploying central IT services, such as SharePoint and Office 365, maintaining a catalog of standard “off the shelf” software, and managing a virtual team of IT professionals and outsourced support partners to ensure adequate performance both across the network and at each individual site.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Define standards consistent with NN’s strategic direction to ensure interoperability, manageability, and security across the NN network
  • Build and manage a global team of IT professionals to manage the operation and deployment of all network-related hardware and services
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with key suppliers and service providers.  Work with Supply Chain to negotiate favorable terms and pricing.
  • Monitor/assess the performance of both internal and external support personnel working on the administration, deployment, and training of IT-related systems
  • Consistently review new technologies to find better ways to support NN’s operational and growth needs.  Recommend improvements and advise budget requirements
    • Maintain and publish a catalog of preapproved hardware and “shrink-wrapped” software to simplify the selection, procurement, and adoption of standards
  • Work closely with other IT SLT members to develop long-term plans for deployments and system improvements
    • Establish priorities based on the overall business plan and ensure priorities are clearly communicated and executed by the team
    • Provide support resources for both local and inter-site infrastructure projects
  • Monitor and drive compliance with corporate IT policies and processes
    • Drive the development, dissemination, and deployment of both global and local procedures required for compliance to comply with published IT policies
    • Ensure team compliance with the published SOX calendar
  • Assist in pre-acquisition due diligence evaluations with respect to IT systems
    • Actively manage the integration of acquisitions into the NN organization in a timely manner
  • Plan and manage the operational budget for the infrastructure needs of the company and submit local budget requirements to division and site management, as appropriate
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum of ten years practical experience supporting servers and computer networks
Desired:
  • Prior management experience is desired, but not critical, as long as the incumbent has displayed sufficient leadership competencies
  • Experience working with a global IT team preferred
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related.
Skills/Competencies:
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving & analytical skills, combined with sound business judgment
  • Experience leading complex operations and strategic initiatives
  • Experience deploying technology solutions utilized by a global enterprise a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to think strategically in order to improve current processes

CERTIFICATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:
Certifications are a plus (CISSP, CISM, CCIE, GSLC, related), but not mandatory.  As this is a constantly evolving field, continuing education in the form of courses, seminars, tradeshows, and self-education is required.
