Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the processing of high volume, multi-state payroll in an accurate and efficient manner.  Serves as a point of contact for employee inquiries while ensuring strict confidentiality and maintaining good customer relations.  Follows established procedures to accomplish transactions.  The Payroll Specialist will report to the Payroll Manager.
• Verify employee timesheets for accuracy and completeness
• Enter new employee data and update existing employee data in ADP
• Answer payroll and special pay allowance questions
• Enter and process garnishments imposed by federal or state entities
• Assist with the annual processing of W2’s
• Meet all applicable deadlines for payroll processing
• Identify gaps in controls as other locations are centralized
• Update and maintain spreadsheets as needed
• Identify opportunities to streamline Payroll processing
• Provide backup coverage for other roles as requested
• High school diploma or minimum of two years of equivalent Payroll experience
• Experience with ADP payroll processing system highly desirable
• Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
• Familiar with workflow and document imaging tools
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access)
• Associate’s Degree or minimum of two years of equivalent Payroll experience
• Service Center related experience, a plus
• Excellent attention to detail and compliance with business rules and procedures
• Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels in the organization
• Must possess strong customer service skills
• Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities
• Strong detail orientation and accuracy level
• Flexibility in assigned day-to-day tasks
• Must be a team player and assist wherever needed
• Open to new ideas and comfortable in regards to bringing up opportunities for improvement
