SUMMARY:
The Compensation and Benefits Representative will assist in administering the compensation and benefit programs for the Company.  Also responsible for job analysis and performance evaluation, this position is key in ensuring that NN takes care of its most valuable resource: its people.  The Compensation and Benefits Representative ensures the benefits data in the system is accurate, maintains reports, and works with payroll to ensure accuracy.  This position will also perform many other generalist duties as required. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Compensation:
  • Participates in market-based compensation surveys and analyzes results and trends
  • Evaluates positions using established evaluation systems, determines job titles, FLSA classification, appropriate salary grades and value of jobs using internal and external measures
  • Works with hiring managers and site HR in creating or rewriting job descriptions; creates and maintains job description database according to the Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Assists in the communication and implementation of wellness and health education initiatives which will help to lower medical claims cost and help to lead the company to adopt a culture of wellness
  • Participates in due diligence during mergers and acquisitions
  • Conducts research on emerging compensation, benefit and legal topics
  • Ensures compensation and benefit standards comply with company policies, regulations and legislation
  • Coordinates communication of compensation and benefits information to employees and other HR groups
  • Oversees ongoing quarterly progress reviews and rate increases
 
Benefits:
  • Provides assistance on employee benefits and insurance plans including Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, HSA, EAP, 401k, Life, and Disability as well as assistance with Unemployment and Workers Compensation as needed
  • Responds to benefit-related issues and needs accurately and in a timely manner
  • Process and review monthly vendor invoices and prepares invoices for accounts payable to ensure timely payments to vendors
  • Ensures BenefitWerks system reflects changes to meet business requirements
  • Maintains employee benefit records within HRIS and benefits providers
  • Provides benefit orientations and answers questions for new hires
  • Participates in the Open Enrollment process and ensures open enrollment materials are provided to each of the locations
  • Serves as a liaison in addressing and resolving eligibility/claim issues, billing questions and other benefits-related matters with the appropriate external benefit vendor
  • Oversee and reconcile weekly and monthly eligibility reports
  • Engage and share related health and wellness communications to employees
  • Provides backup support to team members as required
  • Customer service including troubleshooting and problem solving, as well as phone and email support for Benefits and HR related questions
  • Oversees COBRA administration
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in compensation/benefits analysis and/or financial analysis
  • Must have benefits experience in medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD, HSA, FSA, 401(k), etc.
  • Understanding of HIPPA as it relates to employment
  • An understanding of principles and practices of human resource administration, including relevant laws and regulations
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed
 
Desired:
  • HRCI or WorldatWork certification
  • Experience with and ERP system a plus
  • Carrier-side compensation and/or benefit analysis and administration
 
Skills/Competencies:
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to clearly present recommendations/ideas and to summarize complex issues
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential material
  • Proficient in standard Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
CERTIFICATION/TRAINING REQUIRED
Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) or similar certification (and regular recertification) required.
