 The Human Resources (HR) Manager manages the day-to-day human resource function for multiple plant locations in southwest Ohio and eastern Pennsylvania, under the guidance of the Plant Managers and the Group HR Director.  This entails administering HR policies, procedures, and programs, as well as leading and coordinating HR practices and objectives to provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes safety, quality, productivity, goal attainment, and the recruitment and development of a superior workforce. 
The HR Manager is responsible for all or part of these duties at the local level: recruiting, onboarding, development, and training; performance management; talent and succession planning; compliance with employment and regulatory matters, including reporting; employee relations and communications; safety and workers’ compensation; and compensation, benefits and other employee programs.  The HR Manager reports directly to the Plant Managers and indirectly to the Group HR Director.
Personally, or through subordinate managers and staff, this role is responsible for the following:
  •  With guidance from the Corporate Vice President of HR and the Group HR Director, serve as a business partner with the on-site management team to effectively manage the HR function while maintaining compliance with Company programs and applicable laws and regulations
  • Administer staffing, training, employee relations, safety, compliance, benefits, employee retention, performance review, attendance policies and compensation programs at the local level and implement corporate-wide, strategic HR initiatives
  • Implement, disseminate, and monitor Company HR policies and programs
  • Oversee the recording and maintenance of employee information, such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, disciplinary actions, and terminations
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws related to unemployment compensation, and other employment-related matters
  • Create and maintain site employee handbook and job descriptions; manage COBRA, FMLA, and safety; and manage other HR recordkeeping (including 401(k) and OSHA) as required
  • Assist in investigating and resolving employee concerns
This role does not currently have supervisory responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience as an HR professional with progressive levels of responsibility
  • Proficient with HRIS and MS Office programs, with demonstrated Excel skills
  • Ethical conduct
  • PHR or SPHR preferred
  • Master’s degree in human resource management or related field
  • Three or more years’ experience in the manufacturing field
  • Strong leadership development, mentoring, and staff-level coaching skills
  • Strong business acumen, collaboration and presentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential material
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence and persuade across all levels of the organization, exercising professionalism, tact and diplomacy to accomplish functional and organizational objectives
  • Ability to travel (up to 25%) domestically
