Cash Accountant

SUMMARY:
The Cash Accountant is responsible for positing and reconciliation of all cash transactions within the corporate cash accounts while ensuring proper accounting treatment and key controls are effectively maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP). The Cash Accountant will be heavily involved with communicating with the accounts receivable and accounts payable departments as well as the intercompany accountant to ensure proper treatment of each cash transaction.  The Cash Accountant reports to the Corporate Accounting Manager.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Daily/monthly cash journal entry postings
  • Work with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to verify intercompany aspects of cash accounts
  • Reconciliation of all corporate cash accounts
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to optimize the financial close process.  These projects include information systems improvements as well as creating efficiencies with manual processes.
  • Work on specialized projects as assigned
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • 2-5 years’ experience in finance or accounting, with a strong background in cash entry processes
Desired:
  • Familiarity with ERP
Skills/Competencies:
  • Knowledge of accounting policies and procedures including GAAP, FASB and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to communicate and negotiate with a variety of internal and external constituencies
  • Strong managerial, planning, organizational, decision-making, interpersonal, analytical, and lateral thinking skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to clearly present recommendations/ideas and to summarize complex issues
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential material
